Hello and welcome to MakeMoneyMoms.com. We are here to give you support and honest advice on being a work at home mom. Actually the term ‘work at home mom’ is pretty misleading - any mom who is at home full time with her children is a working mom; but the type that we are going to discuss on this website is the kind of work that actually pays you money for your hard work.
So many mothers want the opportunity to stay home with their young children while still contributing to the family income. Unfortunately this is commonly known and makes us easy targets for unscrupulous Internet marketers who prey on our combination of need and lack of understanding about how to really make a living sitting in front of your computer in your own home.
There is a lot of information - much that you need, and much more that you absolutely don’t need to waste your time with. Wading through all that information can be a full time job that ends in penniless frustration and anger at those who took advantage of you.
I’m a mother of three teenage children. I’ve worked outside the home as a school teacher and inside the home as a full time homeschooling mother. I can remember when my youngest was born and the internet started to become more commonplace in American homes. I was thrilled - I saw the internet as the great equalizer that was going to allow me to earn a decent living while still being at home for my children.
I went through my fair share of misleading opportunities, but fortunately I had already published a piece on work-from-home scams (before the internet days) which gave me a better understanding of what to look out for. Unfortunately, that didn’t mean I understood how to actually make money online. That part took lots of time, lots of trial and error, and a good bit of hair pulling.
People are still very curious and mostly clueless about how you actually earn money online. The truth is that when you start your search for information you usually end up at sites that only make money by peddling worthless ‘make money online’ books to others more clueless than themselves. This is certainly not what you need.
My biggest peeve is when ‘moms’ are targeted with campaigns that pull at our heartstrings about staying home with our families and then proceed to con you an all-American, family-friendly sales pitch, showing smiling women happily tending to their families while they gush about how much money their making in their ’spare time’. Spare me, that ’s generally not the image of a real internet marketing mom. More than likely she’s sitting in her pajamas researching, writing, and appeasing a child with the spare brain energy that she so brilliantly has. She’s damn proud of making a living online because she knows how hard it really is and how much time she actually has had to sacrifice to get it done. That’s the real picture of stay at home mothers.
